STIMULANTS WORTH OVER US$1.7MIL SEIZED IN MYANMAR’S EASTERN STATE

YANGON, July 16 (Xinhua): Myanmar authorities seized a whopping one million stimulants in Shan State, according to a release from from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC).
Acting on a tip-off, the joint police force made the seizure in Pinlaung Township on Wednesday (July 15).
Stimulants worth 2.5 billion kyats (US$1.7mil) were confiscated from a car along with on e suspect.
The township police filed a case against the suspect and further investigation is underway under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, the release said.
On Friday, the Myanmar's Health and Sports Ministry issued an alert for high mortality risk of dengue hemorrhagic fever infection.
According to the ministry's figures, Myanmar reported 2,862 dengue fever infection cases with 20 deaths as of June 27 this year.
From January to June 27, 20 townships across the country saw the highest infection rates with 1,069 cases and 12 deaths.
Regionally, Sagaing region registered with most infection cases of the mosquito-borne disease, followed by Mandalay region and Mon state, respectively.
