ASEANAPOL Secretariat Advances Institutional Development through Legal Consultation with Royal Malaysia Police

Kuala Lumpur, 16 April 2026

The ASEANAPOL Secretariat convened a legal consultation meeting with representatives from the Royal Malaysia Police to seek guidance on the registration and legal recognition process of the Secretariat as a regional intergovernmental policing coordination mechanism.

The meeting was chaired by Police Senior Colonel Dr. Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, together with senior officers from the RMP IGP Secretariat and officials of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat.

The consultation reflects ASEANAPOL’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional framework of its Secretariat in support of enhanced regional coordination among ASEAN Member Countries, particularly in addressing evolving transnational crime threats across the region.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to continued cooperation in advancing the Secretariat’s institutional development, reinforcing ASEANAPOL’s role as a trusted regional platform for operational coordination and strategic collaboration among Member Countries.
