Overview
The Myanmar Police Force is the national police organisation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring public safety.
History
1885
The British policing system was introduced when Myanmar became a British Colony. The force was known as the Burma Police.
1964
The Burma Police was reorganised as the People's Police Force following independence.
1994
On January 28, the Committee for Reorganisation of the Police Administration System was formed, presided over by the Secretary of the State Peace and Development Council.
1995
On October 1, the force was reorganised and established under its current name, the Myanmar Police Force.
