LIONFISH – ASEAN: Pre-Operational Meeting, on 27 February – 01 March 2017 Bangkok, Thailand

On the 27 Feb – 01 Mar 2017, ASEANAPOL was represented by Executive Director Pol. Brig. Gen. Yohanes Agus Mulyono and ASP for Police Services, ASP Saravanan Munusamy were participated in LIONFISH – ASEAN: Pre-Operational Meeting which was held in Bangkok, Thailand.  This Pre-Operational Meeting was initiated and led by ‎INTERPOL  Drugs Intelligence Unit, wishes to cooperate with ASEAN Member Countries and ASEANAPOL t o enhance their operational and intelligence sharing capabilities.  China and Hong Kong, as a source country for a large proportion of synthetic drugs within region and Australia, as a major destination for drugs directly from or transited through the region, are also involved in the Operation LIONFISH-ASEAN.







The Pre-Operational Meeting was attended by 52 coordinators from Police Force (NCB), Narcotics Bureau, Customs, Immigration and Border Security of ASEAN Member Countries, China, Hong Kong and Australia. Qatar and ASEANAPOL Secretariat present as observers for the operation.  This operation is seeks to achieve (3) main objectives; to deliver tangible results in terms and disruption of criminal organizations in illicit drugs, to promote and strengthen the cooperation and the exchange of information between agencies and to support follow-up investigations.

ASEANAPOL together with its dialogue partners are always in the same vision to enhance efforts on illicit drugs and cross-border cooperation in combating drug trafficking.  The Secretariat is looking forward to more collaborations and joint-operations to be conducted among ASEANAPOL Member Countries and it’s Dialogue Partners for the safety of the entire region.
