Courtesy Visit of the Director General of the Office of Investigation Police Agency (OIPA) Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to ASEANAPOL Secretariat: Strengthening Regional Cooperation Against Transnational Crime

The visit began with Executive Director Vinluan expressing his appreciation for the Vietnam Police delegation's presence and introducing the Secretariat's officers assigned to Vietnam and Malaysia. The discussions then shifted to several key issues raised by the Vietnam Police, focusing on the challenges of combating increasingly sophisticated transnational crimes, particularly those involving high technology. While the Vietnam Police remain committed to utilizing regional mechanisms for information exchange to address these crimes, they acknowledged that the effectiveness of these efforts has been limited.
The Vietnam Police emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation among ASEAN member states to improve the effectiveness of operations against transnational crimes, particularly in the area of information sharing. Additionally, the Director General of OIPA highlighted the need for strengthened collaboration between the Vietnam Police and the Royal Malaysia Police, noting that the ASEAN framework could play a crucial role in facilitating more timely and efficient information exchange. The Vietnam Police reiterated their commitment to being a responsible and active member of ASEANAPOL, further pledging to foster closer collaboration with other member states in the fig ht against transnational crime.
