Counteracting International Drug Trafficking, Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances by the Siberian Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (S.L.I. of the M.I.A. of Russia)

On 16th- 20th May 2022, an advance anti-drug course namely, ‘Counteracting International Drug Trafficking, Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances’ was conducted through an on-line platform coordinated and organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation (Dialogue Partner), the S.L.I. of the M.I.A. of Russia and in collaboration with ASEANAPOL Secretariat.

The course was graced with the opening remarks by Police Major General Dmitry Kim, Head of the S.L.I. of the M.I.A. of Russia who welcomed all ASEANAPOL representatives of the anti-drug units from the competent authorities together with the Director for Plans and Programmes (DPP) and Plans and Programmes Officer2 (PPO2) in participation of the training course.

The topics covered methodology for investigating the legalization of funds or properties obtained as a result of illicit drug trafficking and the types of narcotics, precursor and psychotropic substances. Using Internet for the promotion and distribution of narcotic drugs and ways to countering it. Obtaining operatively relevant information in the open sources as well as operative search measures used to counter drug trafficking.

In closing on the 20th May 2022, DPP’s remarks thanking the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, S.L.I. of the M.I.A. of Russia and all prominent speakers together with their translator without whom the training would not be possible. DPP encourages all participants to share their knowledge gained during this course and also hope that next year the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation could arrange a physical training in Russia so that there will be more interaction between the speakers and the participants.
