The 40th ASEAN Database System Technical Committee (ADSTC) Meeting Supports the Transition Toward e-ADS-AI

Bangkok, Thailand — 11–12 March 2026

The 40th ASEAN Database System Technical Committee (ADSTC) Meeting was successfully convened in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together information technology and database system experts from ASEAN Member Countries (AMCs) to further strengthen regional cooperation in secure law-enforcement information sharing and digital policing capabilities across the ASEAN region.

The meeting was organized under the auspices of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Police, which served as the host.

The ADSTC Meeting is one of the four official technical meetings held on the sidelines of the annual ASEANAPOL Conference and serves as an important regional platform for advancing the development of the electronic ASEANAPOL Database System (e-ADS), which supports secure cross-border information exchange among ASEAN Member Countries.

The meeting was attended by information technology and database system officers from all ASEAN Member Countries, together with representatives from the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, led by Executive Director, Police Senior Colonel Dr. Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, and Director for Police Services, Police Senior Superintendent Huntal Tambunan. The meeting provided an important platform for technical experts to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and discuss future directions for strengthening ASEANAPOL’s regional information-sharing architecture.

During the meeting, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat presented the Regional Transformation Principles 9 (RTP-9) as a strategic framework to guide the modernization of ASEANAPOL cooperation. The principles promote a results-oriented approach grounded in the philosophy:

“Think with Vision, Act with Unity, Deliver with Results.”

The Secretariat also presented recent progress in the development of the electronic ASEANAPOL Database System (e-ADS), including its evolution from e-ADS version 1.0 to e-ADS version 2.0, and outlined future plans for the transition toward e-ADS-AI, an artificial intelligence-enabled enhancement designed to support advanced analytics, intelligent information correlation, and strengthened regional crime detection capabilities across ASEAN Member Countries.

Importantly, representatives from all ASEAN Member Countries expressed their support for the proposed transition from e-ADS 2.0 to e-ADS-AI, as presented by the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, recognizing the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening ASEANAPOL’s regional digital policing capabilities and enhancing the effectiveness of cross-border information exchange in addressing emerging transnational crime challenges.

Participants also discussed opportunities to further strengthen technical coordination mechanisms, enhance regional data-sharing practices, and promote capacity-building initiatives to support the continued professional development of ASEANAPOL information technology personnel.

The meeting further included a virtual technical presentation by the proposed system vendor outlining the migration pathway from the current on-premises server-based environment toward a secure cloud-based platform, supporting ASEANAPOL’s long-term vision of building a more resilient, scalable, and intelligence-driven regional information-sharing ecosystem.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation by ASEAN Member Countries of their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in regional law-enforcement information exchange and advancing digital innovation in support of more effective criminal investigations and enhanced regional security cooperation across ASEAN.
