On 11 February 2026, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat and the Gulf Cooperation Council Police convened the 3rd Coordination Meeting in preparation for the 1st Directors-General of Investigations and Criminal Intelligence Meeting, to be held in Abu Dhabi on 14–15 April 2026.

The meeting was led by Dr.Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, with senior representatives from both organisations, including Mubarak Saeed Alkhyeli representing GCCPOL.

Discussions focused on operational readiness, intelligence-driven cooperation, and structured engagement between ASEAN and GCC regions to counter priority transnational crime threats, including illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime, and financial fraud.

The meeting reaffirmed ASEANAPOL and GCCPOL’s shared commitment to strengthening inter-regional security through enhanced intelligence sharing and coordinated leadership, positioning the upcoming Directors-General Meeting as a key platform for translating strategy into collective action.
