ASEANAPOL Strengthens Global Cooperation with Russia to Combat Transnational Crime

On 12 February 2026, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat received a courtesy visit from the Embassy of the Russian Federation, reinforcing strategic cooperation to strengthen law enforcement capacity across the ASEAN region.

The delegation, led by Nayl M. Latypov, was received by Police Senior Colonel Dr. Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat, together with the Police Senior Superintendent Director for Police Services.

Discussions focused on practical cooperation and capacity-building to address key transnational crime threats. The Russian Federation proposed a series of online specialised training programmes for ASEAN law enforcement officers in 2026, covering areas such as counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, and organised crime.

ASEANAPOL welcomed the initiative and will disseminate the training opportunities to all Member Countries, reaffirming its role as a regional coordination platform committed to strengthening collective capability, operational readiness, and international cooperation in the fight against transnational crime.
