ASEANAPOL Executive Director Delivers Opening Remarks at International Meeting on “Operation Breaking Chains”

SEOUL, 5 February 2026 – At the invitation of the National Police Agency of the Republic of Korea, the ASEANAPOL participated in the 2nd International Joint Operation Meeting on Scam Crimes in Seoul, attended by over 70 senior law-enforcement officials from more than 20 countries and international organisations, including INTERPOL, AFRIPOL, the International Organization for Migration, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Police Senior Colonel Dr. Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, accompanied by the Director for Plans and Programmes, delivered the opening remarks as a keynote speaker. He underscored that scam compounds are breeding grounds for transnational organised crime, encompassing online fraud, human trafficking, forced labour, and the exploitation of vulnerable victims.

He emphasised the need for collective international action under “Operation Breaking Chains” and outlined ASEANAPOL’s regional coordinating role, reaffirming its readiness to expand operational cooperation with the Korean National Police and international partners to dismantle transnational scam networks.
