ASEANAPOL Strengthening Diplomatic Engagement with the Philippines
On 3 February 2026, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat undertook a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Kuala Lumpur, reaffirming ASEANAPOL’s commitment to proactive diplomatic engagement in support of regional security cooperation.
The ASEANAPOL delegation was led by Police Senior Colonel Dr. Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, and was joined by senior Secretariat officials. The delegation was received by Her Excellency Maria Angela A. Ponce, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Malaysia, together with senior representatives of the Embassy.
During the engagement, the Executive Director outlined ASEANAPOL’s strategic role in strengthening regional law-enforcement cooperation and enhancing collective responses to transnational crime across ASEAN. The discussion highlighted the importance of close coordination between ASEANAPOL and diplomatic missions in fostering trust, facilitating information exchange, and supporting joint regional initiatives.
Her Excellency the Ambassador welcomed the engagement and reaffirmed the continued support of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines for ASEANAPOL’s mission and activities. The meeting also underscored the Philippines’ support for the forthcoming ASEANAPOL Conference to be hosted in Manila, reflecting shared commitment to advancing regional security cooperation.
This courtesy visit reflects ASEANAPOL’s broader strategy of strengthening institutional partnerships and diplomatic outreach, reinforcing unity among ASEAN Member Countries, and translating cooperation into tangible outcomes for regional peace and security.
