ASEANAPOL Secretariat Receives Diplomatic Visit from French Embassy to Strengthen Regional Security Cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 January 2026 — The ASEANAPOL Secretariat received a diplomatic visit from representatives of the French Embassy in Singapore, underscoring the continued strengthening of cooperation between ASEANAPOL and French law enforcement authorities in addressing regional and transnational security challenges.

The French delegation was led by Mr. Erwan Ferrand, Deputy Regional Police Attaché and Coordinator for the Indo-Pacific Region, accompanied by Ms. Angeline Ng, Assistant to the Regional Police Attaché.

The delegation was formally received by the senior leadership of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, headed by Police Senior Colonel Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Ph.D., Executive Director, together with Superintendent Siva Pergahsum Shanmugam, Head of Administrative and Technical Staff, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Suresh Subramaniam, Police Services Officer I (Plans and Programmes).

During the visit, both sides exchanged views on their respective organizational mandates and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation. Discussions focused on priority areas of mutual concern, including counter-terrorism, transnational organized crime, cybercrime, child sexual exploitation, and capacity-building initiatives. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of needs-based Capacity Building Training (CBT) programmes tailored to the requirements of ASEANAPOL Member Countries (AMCs).

The Executive Director expressed his appreciation to the French Embassy in Singapore for its continued support to ASEANAPOL, highlighting the practical value and effectiveness of French-supported training initiatives. He further outlined ASEANAPOL’s eight core priority areas in combating transnational organized crime and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration in these domains.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen future cooperation and to advance joint efforts in promoting regional security and resilience across the Indo-Pacific region.
