ASEANAPOL Secretariat Reaffirms Commitment to Advancing the Electronic ASEANAPOL Database System to Counter Transnational Crime
On 16 January 2026, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat welcomed Mr. Yeo Tze Chung, a representative from Connexion Solution Sdn. Bhd., based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the occasion of a courtesy call and technical discussion at the ASEANAPOL Secretariat Headquarters, Bank Rakyat Twin Tower, Kuala Lumpur.
The meeting was received by Police Senior Colonel Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Ph.D., Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, together with the Director for Police Services, Senior Superintendent of Police Huntal Tambunan, and officials from the Secretariat. A representative from the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), DSP Khairul Izham Md Noh, who serves at the ASEANAPOL Secretariat as Police Services Officer II, also attended the meeting to share his experiences and operational insights.
The purpose of the meeting was to address recurring connectivity issues affecting the Electronic ASEANAPOL Database System (e-ADS) and to discuss ways to further enhance the system’s existing modules. Mr. Yeo Tze Chung highlighted that while some ASEANAPOL Member Countries were unable to access the e-ADS system, others experienced partial functionality. These challenges were largely attributed to internal router changes and misconfigured network settings, which have affected the overall effectiveness of the system.
The meeting further explored options to strengthen the system framework, focusing on improving system performance, enhancing data security, and increasing reliability across ASEANAPOL Member Countries. In this regard, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to continuously develop and advance the e-ADS system, ensuring that it remains responsive to operational needs and capable of supporting advanced analytical functions to enhance coordinated policing efforts across the ASEAN region.
Originally established to transform ASEANAPOL’s information sharing from manual, paper-based processes into a secure digital platform, the e-ADS system is hosted in Kuala Lumpur at the Royal Malaysia Police headquarters and integrated with INTERPOL’s I-24/7 network. The system serves as a central repository for operational and strategic data, contact points, case files, and official documents, all governed by strict protocols and role-based access controls.
As technology continues to evolve and transnational crime becomes increasingly complex, the development of a secure, reliable, and resilient database system remains critical to effective regional law enforcement cooperation. This initiative reflects ASEANAPOL’s firm commitment to advancing its digital capabilities and strengthening collective action against transnational crime across the region — together, we keep this region safe.
