ASEANAPOL and JCLEC Strengthen Training Cooperation on Scam and Transnational Crime

Semarang, Indonesia — From 19 to 23 January 2026, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat participated in the Stakeholder Coordination Forum hosted by the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC) in Semarang. The discussions, led by Police Senior Colonel Dr. Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, opened a new phase of cooperation between ASEANAPOL and JCLEC in regional capacity building.

The ASEANAPOL Secretariat delegation comprised Dr. Kongkrissada Kittithiraphong, Police Senior Colonel and Executive Director, and Huntal Tambunan, Police Senior Superintendent and Director for Police Service.

The forum brought together police and law enforcement representatives from Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, US and France, with discussions focusing on strengthening coordination and practical cooperation to address transnational crime.

JCLEC expressed its readiness to serve as a key training partner for ASEANAPOL by supporting demand-driven training programmes based on the needs of ASEAN Member Countries, coordinated through ASEANAPOL. Particular emphasis was placed on scam-related crimes, identified as a priority issue following recent ASEANAPOL meetings held in Bangkok.

The forum reaffirmed ASEANAPOL’s role as a central platform for regional law enforcement cooperation and highlighted the shared commitment to delivering practical training and tangible outcomes to enhance regional security.
