ASEANAPOL Secretariat and PNP Convene for Initial Planning of 2027 Sideline Meetings

Camp Brigadier General Rafael T Crame, Quezon City. On December 23, 2025, in a proactive move to strengthen regional security, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat met with the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the first coordinating meeting of the 2027 ASEANAPOL Sideline Meetings, which the Philippines is slated to host.

The high-level consultation was led by Police Brigadier General Aladdin M. Collado, Executive Officer of the PNP Directorate for Plans. Representing the Secretariat were Executive Director Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan and incoming Director for Plans and Programmes, Police Colonel Jean Mary Mangahis. The discussion focused on four critical assemblies scheduled for the first semester of 2027: the Training Coordination Meeting (ATCM), the Police Forensic Science Network (APFSN), the Joint Senior Police Operations Course (JASPOC), and the Database System Technical Committee (ADSTC).

The PNP delegation, comprising experts from the Directorates for Plans, Comptrollership, Human Resource and Doctrine Development, and the Forensic Group, worked to align the 2027 agenda with the latest Joint Communiqués and international strategies against transnational crime. Central to this effort is the "Good Neighbor" philosophy, a principle of self-reliance and mutual assistance ensuring that ASEAN member nations are the first to provide support during man-made or natural crises. By enhancing search and rescue (JASPOC) and crisis management (ACCPM) protocols, the initiative aims to deliver immediate, synchronized assistance before international aid is required.

This strategic pivot transforms ASEANAPOL into a regional brotherhood where shared vigilance treats a neighbor’s border as one’s own, closing gaps exploited by criminals. By unifying forensic capabilities and migrating database systems to the cloud, the Secretariat empowers the region to manage its security landscape independently. "These meetings are the engine room of our cooperation," Vinluan stated, emphasizing that through unity and innovation, ASEANAPOL remains a robust platform dedicated to helping neighbors first and staying ahead of evolving global threats.
